"It was difficult to build it," smiled Estaban, "I had to be careful because in the construction process, you must heat the brass. Too hot and it warps. It was tricky but worthwhile in the end. It was a wild piece but just listen to how it sounds."

The proof was in the pudding and it came in the strangest forms. While at a trade show the great David Lindley played the brass model instrument with a ball point pen and seemed to be impressed.
And there are other great players who use the Bojorquez models. JD Manis of the Byrds plays one as well as Michael Witcher. It was Michael who blew everyone's mind when in the middle of a seminar at the festival he started playing and instantly drew a huge crown. The stories from the Strawberry Festival are legendary.
Besides the Lap steel guitars he makes, Bojorquez builds standard electric six string models and the odd bass guitar as well. In three years time he has designed, built, and played over 20 different guitars. All from scratch and all by himself. This is not to mention the many uniquely customized guitars he has worked on. From changing out elaborate head stocks to sculpting, carving, adding laminates, or new intricate fret boards, his imagination is the only thing that limits what he does while designing, refinishing, and most importantly playing these uniquely crafted lap steel guitars.
The proof in Estaban Bojorquez's work is in the listening pleasure we get from the guitars when they hit the first note. From there you can't help but enjoy the sweet sound of the lap steel guitar.
